The ACHA Select team went 6-0 on their trip to Europe against teams from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

The ACHA Select team went 6-0 on their trip to Europe playing against teams from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

The team departed for their trip to Europe on December 27, 2009 and returned home January 7, 2010. The team consisted of 26 players representing 22 ACHA Division II colleges and universities, including WPU’s very own Shaun McTigue.

“This was a great opportunity to travel to Europe and play hockey with some of the best players in the ACHA," said the McTigue, who played a large part of the Select team's success. "I had such a great experience traveling throughout Europe playing hockey.  It is something I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life."

With McTigue back in Wayne and the second semester of the season underway, the Pioneers look to continue their winning ways and make a run at Nationals.

“It is nice to be back and I'm excited to get back on the ice with my teammates," said McTigue.  "We have won 10 straight games and made a lot of progress as a team.  I am looking forward to see how the rest of the season plays out.”

The Pioneers step back on the ice this Sunday, January 10 to take on the Temple Owls at 11:00am at the Ice Vault Arena.
