The Pioneers travel to Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) tonight in a Super East Collegiate Hockey League battle.

William Paterson University is coming off a 7-3 matinee victory over Temple University at the Ice Vault Arena to kickoff the second semester of the ACHA season.

Leaving them feeling Blue

The Pioneers are undefeated in the last five contests against CCSU including a 2-0 mark in Connecticut. They have outscored the Blue Devils 34 to 12 in the five-game span.

In the five-game undefeated streak against CCSU, Shaun McTigue has recorded a team-high nine points (five goals and four assists). Captain Jason Fortino and forward Matt Gillen are tied for the team lead in assists against the Blue Devils with six apiece. John Gomez leads all Pioneers with six goals against CCSU.

In their last meeting on Dec. 4, WPU defeated CCSU 11-2 at the Ice Vault. Gomez tallied a hat trick and one assist while Fortino notched one goal and three assist to lead the Pioneers. Daniel Gallela also recorded a hat trick in the contest and Gillen (two assists), Craig Junda (two assists), Robert Prezioso (one goal and one assist) each had multi-point games.

Leading scorer Albert Campbell tallied one goal as did rookie Tom Primo. Defensemen Anthony Zipfel and Rob Carroll had one assist apiece. Chris Bauer stopped 24 of 25 shots for the win.

Taking the Nation by storm

Freshman goaltender Chris Bauer leads the ACHA Division II in wins with 15.

Entering tonight’s contest, Campbell ranks in the top 30 (tied for 28th) in the ACHA Division II in scoring with 23 goals and 18 assist for 41 points in 24 games.
