WPU hits the road vs. Marist and NYU2010-02-05
The Pioneers will be looking to clinch the #1 seed in SECHL on the road vs. # 3 Marist and NYU.
This weekend, WPU will be looking to accomplish one of their goals that they set at the beginning of the season, capturing the SECHL #1 seed. The Pioneers are looking to not only clinch the #1 seed in the SECHL, but looking to obtain a #1 ranking representing the Northeast Region. Coach Ballance commented, “These are goals we wanted to accomplish since day 1 and we are very close. We want to put ourselves in the best position to win come post-season time and obtaining a number 1 seed is the best position we can be in.”
Coming off a split weekend in Florida versus a strong FGCU team, the Pioneers saw their 14-game winning streak come to an end. The Pioneers bounced back with a redemption win the next night at FGCU to get back to their winning ways. The Pioneers are looking to clinch the SECHL with another redemption win over Marist, who defeated the Pioneers in the SECHL home opener. “It was good not only to get back to our winning ways, but we demonstrated the ability to bounce back the next night. When you haven’t faced adversity in a long-time, it is important how you respond to it, and our guys responded with a hard fought win”, noted Coach Ballance.
Both games will be a tough task as Marist is #3 in both the SECHL and Northeast while NYU has recently knocked off some ranked opponents.
