The University:
Founded in the city of Paterson in 1855, William Paterson is one of the nine state colleges and universities in New Jersey.
Campus Size and Location:
Set on 370 wooded acres in northeast New Jersey, the campus is located just 20 miles west of New York City.
Students:
The University has nearly over 10,300 students. During the Fall 2009 semester, 8,741 undergraduate students and 1,515 graduate students were enrolled.
Employees/ Faculty:
1,129 full-time employees, including 379 full-time faculty members.
Average Undergraduate Class Size/ Student Faculty Ratio:
The average class size is 20.4, the student to faculty ratio is 15.0 to 1.
Costs:
Annual tuition (including fees) for the 2008-2009 academic year is $10,492 for full-time (12 credits or more) students who are New Jersey residents and $17,050 for full-time nonresident students. Room and board cost is approximately $9,780 per year. Tuition (including fees) for graduate students who are New Jersey residents is $569 per credit and $883 per credit for nonresidents.
Financial Aid:
Available through a number of federal and state grant, loan, scholarship, and work-study programs. Both the University and the Alumni Association award competitive scholarships based on academic merit to entering freshmen.

Housing on Campus:
There are ten residence halls on campus with a housing capacity of 2,620 to meet growing student demand for a 24/7 campus experience.
Majors and Degrees:
William Paterson University offers 42 undergraduate and 22 graduate programs through its five colleges: Arts and Communication, Cotsakos College of Business, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Health. Certification is available in early childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education. Preprofessional programs in dentistry, law, medicine, and veterinary medicine are arranged at the request of students.


Academic Facilities:
Facilities on campus include
the recently renovated David and Lorraine Cheng Library;
the new
E*Trade Financial Learning Center, a technologically advanced academic facility featuring live data feeds; the Russ Berrie Institute for Professional Sales includes a Professional Sales Laboratory with state-of-
the -art digital video feedback technology to support interactive skills development in simulated sales settings;
the Ben Shahn Center for Visual Arts which houses art galleries and studios; and
the Shea Center for Performing Arts, with its 940-seat
the ater. The
Power
Art
Building , opened in January 2000, features arts studios and gallery space.

Hobart Hall is a state-of-
the -art communication facility that houses two broadcast-quality TV studios, a multipurpose computer lab, a film studio, an FCC-licensed FM radio station, an uplink and four downlink satellite dishes, a cable system and a computerized telephone system for voice and data transmission.

The Atrium, completed in 1996, contains a writing center, multimedia language lab, tutorial center, and computing support facilities.
Research facilities include fully equipped biochemistry, molecular biology and neurobiology laboratories; and biotechnology and DNA equipment. William

the New Jersey Intercampus Network (NJIN), a nonprofit organization of 45 colleges and universities fostering
the growth of video, voice, and data networking.
Revenue Sources:$147,708,337, of which net student tuition and fees account for 47% and State of New Jersey appropriations account for 38.4%.

Athletics :
The University has 17 intercollegiate athletic teams, eight for men and nine for women, and an ACHA Hockey team. Campus facilities include a competition-size indoor pool, outdoor tennis courts, and a lighted athletics field complex.
